MA Corporate Communications, Marketing and Public Relations

Learning outcomes

On completion of the programme, students should have provided evidence of being able:

- To critically appraise and apply theories from the current literature in the field and analyse and evaluate the implications for corporate communications, marketing and public relations practices
- To develop, present and defend reasoned and logical arguments, reflecting current concepts and thinking in the field
- To develop innovative solutions and alternatives, demonstrating creativity in corporate communications, marketing and public relations
- To analyse, interpret and evaluate information from a wide range of relevant sources and identify critical issues
- To produce professional quality written corporate communications, marketing and public relations materials
- To prepare and deliver professional quality oral presentations
- To practice corporate communications, marketing and public relations ethically and in accordance with ethical codes both within market and across national boundaries
- To critically evaluate differences in corporate communications, marketing and public relations practice across cultures and countries and to propose appropriate solutions to problems arising thereof
- To plan and organise group tasks from a given brief and within an agreed time frame
- To apply principles, theories and skills learned to practical and professional settings and contexts to formulate ideas and hypotheses and to develop, implement and execute plans by which to evaluate these

Assessment

Achievement for the degree of Master (taught programme) will be assessed by a variety of methods in accordance with the learning outcomes of the modules specified for the year/programme and will involve the achievement of the students in:

- evidencing an ability to conduct independent in-depth enquiry within the discipline;
- demonstrating the ability to apply breadth and/or depth of knowledge to a complex specialist area;
- drawing on a range of perspectives on an area of study;
- evaluating and criticising received opinion;
- making reasoned judgements whilst understanding the limitations on judgements made in the absence of complete data.
