Learning outcomes
On completion of the year students should have provided evidence of being able to:- speak and understand everyday conversation, write basic sentences and read simple texts in Arabic;- acquire academic and practical knowledge of contemporary Middle East;- learn how to live and study successfully in the Middle East.
Transferable (key) skills
Students will have had the opportunity to develop and practise:- oral, written and practical skills in Arabic;- the organisation of life and study in the Middle East;- inter-personal skills required to operate in Middle Eastern society;- report writing skills.
Assessment
Achievement will be assessed (on a Pass/Fail basis) by:- pass all the year abroad modules;- regular tests and examinations set by the year abroad institution and the University of Leeds;- successful completion of all courses taken in the year abroad institution.
