Objectives
This module aims to equip students to treat nuclear reactors and their operation as an integrated engineered system, that is both impacted by and impacts the broader context for nuclear power.Learning outcomes
This module surveys a very large area and knowledge outcomes cover the following broad areas:
- How the context for nuclear power has shaped the character of the nuclear industry and vice versa
- Potential implications for the future of nuclear power
- Key engineering features of nuclear power generation
Students acquire in depth knowledge of selected aspects of these areas.
Skills outcomes
- Knowledge attained of reactor engineering and the broader nuclear industry;
- Ability to address reactor engineering from an integrated systems perspective;
- Ability to relate engineering to intended application in the nuclear industry.
