Objectives
On completion of the module candidates should have acquired the following an understanding of the concepts, tools and techniques of whole life asset management;- The application of tools and techniques of asset infrastructure management;
- An understanding of the implications of whole life management concepts of delivering value-for-money in infrastructure asset management.
- The relationship between risk, cost, value and performance of infrastructure assets.
Syllabus
- The concept of whole life management (WLM), the concept and discipline of infrastructure asset management, best value and whole life management, the infrastructure programme and project, procurement routes and the project value chain.
- Technical and managerial issues in WLM - Introduction to ISO 55000 and related guidelines;
- The Asset Management process, tools and techniques for WLM. Value and risk compromises in whole life management - OPEX and CAPEX considerations.
- Relationships between Capital Investment, Maintenance, Renewal and Disposal.
