Module summary

Objectives

This module aims to provide students with knowledge and expertise in managing operations and processes. It assesses and solves contemporary operations and supply chains problems via the application of contemporary operations management and supply chain management theories, models and tools.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this module students will be able to:
- Evaluate different operations management philosophies, techniques and contexts providing examples of their own experience
- Critically examine operations management philosophies, techniques and contexts to solve practical business problems

Key learning is developed through seminar activities to apply related theories and tools for assessing various operations and supply chain problems in various sectors (public sector, manufacturing and service sectors).

Private study

Students are expected to both read and prepare case materials as directed, prior to attending classes.

For each 20 credits of study taken, the expectation is that the normal study time (including attendance at lectures and tutorials, self-study and revision) is 200 hours.
