Objectives
Module objectives are, students should be :- Working in a Dental Laboratory, in their chosen specialist field, on actual patient cases
- Working within the remit of a Dental Technician as determined by the GDC.
- Behaving in a professional manner.
- Interpreting prescriptions and producing the appropriate laboratory work required.
- Liaising with other members of the Dental Team and their co-workers to ensure satisfactory outcomes for patient treatment plans
- Choosing suitable materials and methods to construct required appliances
- Completing all relevant paperwork for the casework produced and completing all records required satisfying MDD regulations.
- Undertaking health and safety requirements to protect their own health and that of others
- Participating in all legal and quality assurance requirements for the production of these appliances
- Producing a variety of complete denture cases for all jaw relationships.
- Producing a range of copy dentures.
- Producing simple immediate dentures.
- Producing a variety of strengthening components for complete denture cases.

- Producing a range of single unit restorations including metal/ceramic, metal/ composite, full ceramic and full composite designs.
- Producing complex diagnostic wax ups
- Articulating registrations of occlusion on a range of articulators

Syllabus
This module allows the student to develop their hand skills and their knowledge of procedures and techniques in a real work situation and reinforces and develops skills learned in Fixed Prosthodontics Simple and Removable Complete Prosthodontics.
It allows the student to experience the reality of working in a dental laboratory, specifically in relation to the production of a range of single unit Fixed Prosthodontic appliances and Removable Complete Prosthodontics.
The student will be expected to become competent, within the workplace, in their chosen specialist field of Dental Technology.
The Module will cover all health and safety and quality issues to complete these work based tasks and give an overview of the planning required to successfully produce dental appliances to a deadline.
It will include record keeping and working with other members of the Dental Team.
