Syllabus
The day-to-day content of this module is determined, in large part, by the host institution. In terms of Leeds – determined content, an introductory lecture will set the scene in terms of expectations and there will be briefings organised locally and in concert with the Study Abroad Office. The module will be offered in term 4.2 to highly motivated and highly achieving students only, through competition in the early part of year 3). There will, in addition to the requirement of attendance, participation and clinical practice determined by the host, be Leeds-based requirements: for example, the CMS 1 (DSUR3301) written examination will be taken whilst on placement and lectures delivered in the relevant term will need to be assimilated through the VLE; the clinical diary will be completed in relation to patients seen on placement but submitted to Leeds; there will need to be ‘catch-up’ sessions in relation to Leeds based placement at GPs and in the Ambulance service and in the theory of Complete Denture construction. A return visit to Leeds will be necessary to take the Clinical Practice 4 DSUR5050M OSCE components.
