Module summary
This second, linked course on Clinical Practice and Outreach run throughout the extended 40-week year as dental students gain increasing experience of working in a variety of clinical environments. It builds on previous experience of examination and diagnosis, leading to the instigation of preventive and treatment options. Clinical skills of local anaesthesia are further developed and simple restorations will be performed for adult patients. The occlusion in function will be studied at a basic level and opportunity will be provided for participation in a clinical exercise to help explain its relevance. Greater experience of working with members of the dental team is provided with an emphasis on establishing effective working practices in terms of both chairside assistance and infection control procedures. This latter aspect is integrated with experience in microbiology. Objectives
